This week I have something different for everyone, with a series of images that show how we at PC Choice build computers. In this case, we are building a gaming computer for a customer who has chosen top of the range products
So I’ll start of with the components:
- CPU: Intel i7 6700K
- CPU Cooler: Corsair H110i GTX
- RAM: 32GB DDR4 HyperX Fury
- Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z170
- Power Supply: Corsair RM750X
- Graphics Card: Asus GTX 980 Strix 4GB
- Solid State Drives: x2 Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB
- Case: Corsair 500R
All these components are basically the best in each respective field, so this is going to be a very powerful computer.
Here we see the motherboard in all its glory. The i7 and the RAM have already been installed; as installing them outside the case is advised.
The case, with both side panels removed. You can see the 9 motherboard standoffs are pre-installed.
With the motherboard installed. 9 little screws are all that is required. I’ve also taken this chance (when the case is free from other components) to connect the front-panel case connections; these are the cables that allow you to turn the computer on and use front USB’s and audio.
Very similar to the previous image, but now I’ve installed the power supply and connected the 24-pin ATX connector. This gives the vast majority of power to the motherboard, CPU and RAM.
And finally the graphics card is in. You can see that this card is very powerful as it requires 1 8-pin and 1 6-pin connector just to power it alone. Goes well with the overall black and white theme as well.
And all done! The last thing was the installation of the CPU cooler. Turned on first time as well. With these parts the computer should last many many years before any upgrades are needed.
